Grace and Beauty

Good Morning everyone, grab your coffee and come on in an let's chat a while. I found this picture of lily pads and I thought how graceful and beautiful. Well you know I am a gal from down south and grace and beauty is what we southern girls are all about, right? What is grace and beauty? Grace, according to the free dictionary.com is:  Seemingly effortless beauty or charm of movement, form, or proportion.. A characteristic or quality pleasing for its charm or refinement.
A disposition to be generous or helpful; goodwill.. Mercy; clemency.
A favor rendered by one who need not do so; indulgence.
Aah, "a seemingly effortless beauty", looks as if grace and beauty go together, let's see what the definition of beauty is...
the combination of all the qualities of a person or thing that delight the senses and please the mind. a very attractive and well-formed girl or woman. When I think about grace and beauty in the aspect of a southern girl, I think about Clarke Gable and Vivian Leigh in "Gone With The Wind". Or for a more up to date version of a southern girl "Ya Ya Sisterhood" either way us girls can be a little outlandish sometimes and yet when there is trouble brewing on the horizon we can come together like non else and do what ever need be to get things done, (smile in remembrances of times past). However, (brows together in deep thought) what about the culture now days? Is a Southern Belle going to be something of the past? There seems to be a lot of people that do not understand our generosity or our charm as if it is something of an offense. For example, one day I was on the phone with a lady and she was making an appointment (minute details are unimportant here), I happened to say "yes mam", the reaction was as if I had spilled acid on the poor girl, she said "do not call me mam, I am not a slave", well talk about some one being miss informed but us southern girls say mam and sir all the time and it has nothing to do with anything except for respect, so as any good southern girl would do I gracefully explained to her why we did this. This was information that she did not know (she was from up north). Well, that ended well and I respected her not to say mam anymore and she had more respect for me if I messed up and said mam anyway.(chuckles). There was a time that did not work out so well, I was taking a class at the community college when my teacher called my name and I said "yes mam" oh my goodness, her face turned red and she addressed the whole class with..."I will not tolerate any one in my class saying mam or sir, if it happens again you will get a zero for a grade, I am fore warning you and letting you know that I am not any one's (d) slave". OoouuucccHHH. You know who's black list I was on for the rest of the class. (Smiles). Well, I have seen major degradation in the area of Southern Grace and Charm over the years. I always thought that a little kindness and respect went a long way, or has the definition changed? Hmmm, some times a long for days when people were friendly for the sake of being friendly and they didn't think about ulterior motives, (with that said, is it a trust issue, or is it more of everyone for themselves?), of course life was more relaxed and not a busy as it is today.
Well friends, it's time to get busy, thanks for stopping by and remember, until next time, fill your life with a little randomness.
