The Sounds of Saturday

Good Morning Friends,

MMMmmmm, a good morning to drink a nice cup of coffee goodness.
I am sitting here by the fire this morning drinking my coffee, spongebob is in the background and my grandson Lucas is between playing and climbing up on my lap.
Pawpaw is about to leave for work and the day begins. I love Saturdays. Just being able to lay back for a moment and take things at a slower pace. How do you all like to spend your Saturday's ? What are the sounds that make you smile?

Extraordinary

Good Morning friends, 
Grab your coffee and come on in and let's chat for a moment.
Yesterday we talked about Extravagant Love. Today I want to say something about the Extraordinary. 
How extraordinary it would be if we lived a life of extravagant love.
Extraordinary calls us to rise above the mundane, the ordinary into a place that goes beyond what is mundane, what is ordinary.
Think of how much your life would change if you dared to do all within the bounds of extraordinary, all the possibilities that are available in the extraordinary, nothing is out of reach, everything is in your reach for the grasping.  Do we dare to throw caution out to the wind and reach for the impossible? After all nothing is impossible with Christ who strengthens us.  I love the verse:   
Pro 13:12  Hope deferred maketh the heart sick; But when the desire cometh, it is a tree of life.
What are the things that you hope for, how have they been deferred, what do you desire? Many times I have hoped for things that did not materialize, how sick I became in my heart. What if by chance, instead of just hoping, I would have put forth a plan of action to do all that I could to make it happen.  Do we sometimes sit on the sidelines, waiting, praying that the Lord will make our hopes come forth?  Hmmmm, if I think about this a little deeper, I realize God is a God of action, many times in the word He says he will do....if we do....
Something to think about.

Extravagant Love

Good Morning Friends
Come on in and bring your coffee and let's chat a few moments. It's been a while since I have blogged. So much is going on, I am finishing up fall semester (I should be writing my paper, Oh, well). I just wanted to share with you all this morning something on my heart.  
Extravagant Love.  What an awesome word extravagant. To go over board, beyond, more than what is required or deserved. Hmmm, 
That is how the Lord loves us, extravagantly. 
The message bible says in Ephesians chapter five that Christ love was not cautious but extravagant. He didn't love in order to get something from us, but to give everything of himself to us. LOVE like that. 
Wow!!! What awesome wording.  I heard an old addage the other day that you can't give what you have never been given. I pray today that with the extravagant love that has been given to me by my Lord Jesus Christ that I will in turn give that extravagant love to others so that they will know the love of Christ.

The Smells Of Morning

Good Morning Friends, grab your coffee and come on in and let's chat for a moment.

Ahhhh, the smells of morning. The smell of a good blend of coffee is my favorite, followed by the smell of bacon...MMMMMmmmmm.

What smells attract you in the morning?

I love this time of year, my favorite coffee is pumpkin spice. I stopped at the friendly neighborhood Dunkin Doughnuts this past Saturday and lo and behold, they had pumpkin spice latte, ohhhh a bit of heaven I must say.  Add a pumpkin spice doughnut and you have a well planned meal. Well, maybe not but it was ohhhhh so good.

You know what is crazy though, you pay almost five dollars for that wonderful cup of pleasure, that is almost enough to buy a bag of premium coffee and with a little time and effort you can have many cups of goodness just for a little over the price of that one.

We are such a spoiled people.  I have to say that I like the little nuances when I can afford them, but sometimes it does not take long before I feel guilty for the indulgence. I guess that comes from years of being self employed and having to learn to be frugal.

We Are Not In Kansas Anymore


 Good Morning Friends, grab your coffee and come on in and let's chat for a moment. How are you all this beautiful and yet chilly morning? I am so glad to have a break from the steamy temperatures.


Have you ever thought about the movie the WIZARD OF OZ?  Anyone who reads literature especially literature written before the 21st century, knows that literature was a way to express  the signs of the time through stories, with allegories, symbols, metaphors and... 


Usually, the stories underling meanings were political in nature, which brings me to the story of OZ.  I set out to find the meaning behind the story and what I found was not so surprising, however, I found it intriguing to find that not only is it a story about the political agenda of the late 1800's and early 1900's, it also fits so perfectly into the political climate of today.

False Control

Good Morning Friends, grab you coffee and come on in and let's chat for a while. I pray this beautiful morning finds you blessed and continues through out the day. There is a lot going on around here this week, keep prayers going for my cousin Michael, they will be taking him off of life support this evening or in the morning, also pray for another cousin of mine whose husband hung himself Sunday night. This is an unexpected time of trauma for my extended family  and my prayers go out to them for peace and comfort for all as they are dealing with trying to make sense of what is happening in their lives. 
I will be spending tomorrow with one of my friends as she is bringing a new life into this world, Ella Grace, I can't wait to meet her. It has been exciting waiting with anticipation for this day. She is going to have the greatest mommy and daddy, sister and brother that a girl could ask for. 
My youngest son will be moving back home this weekend until he closes on his house, and I am going to be spending sometime  in the mountains Saturday night for a Anniversary Meeting at my old church. Wow  busy time here, if I miss a time or two on the blog this week I am asking for forgiveness in advance. 
Today, I believe I was going to talk about our sense of (false) control. My question to you friends is this: Do you know, I mean, really know that no matter what it is that you do, which path you think you hone out for yourself that you are not really the one that is in control of your  destiny? There are laws of nature that God has established and set forth since creation, there is cause and effect, and even though God has given us the ability to be free moral agents there are consequences (both good and bad) for the choices that we make. That is why many times in God's word we are told to choose, Moses, in his final appeal to God's chosen said in the words of : 
Deu 30:19  I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live:
Deu 30:20  That thou mayest love the LORD thy God, and that thou mayest obey his voice, and that thou mayest cleave unto him: for he is thy life, and the length of thy days: that thou mayest dwell in the land which the LORD sware unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give them. Why then do we always forget to choose LIFE? You see the only control that we  have is the choice to choose, and most times we choose death, a curse, friends I hope that you see what I am trying to express...this IS the Love of Christ, God wants to bless us, he wants things to go right with us and yet we think that we make our own way (that is false control). 

Let me give you an example, the young man who hung himself this weekend. ( I feel I can expound on this for I have been in this place before and I know what it is like). I can assure you that he thought that he was in control of his destiny when he made the choice to end life, but his destiny was already laid out before him before he got to that point. It was laid out through prior choices that set the pendulum of cause and effect in order, could it have been reversed, YES, I believe that with all my heart... he had the right to choose...to change course, to make a difference...did he know he could? I don't know. Sometimes I think that we let things get us so far down that we get to a point that we do not realize we can choose another way, we become prisoners to Death. 
My cousin on life support, became prisoner to Death, through alcoholism, and friends if you do not think that there is things that come to us from generation to generation, then I encourage you to look at your family tree and get the information about what kind of lives your ancestors had. Did he have a choice, YES, but again another that became prisoner of death. I pray that when that life support system is taken off of him that he has another chance and if so then I want to be there to tell him to choose LIFE. Choose Life Michael. To choose life is this plain and simple:  
That thou mayest love the LORD thy God, and that thou mayest obey his voice, and that thou mayest cleave unto him: for he is thy life, and the length of thy days: Any other way is death, and your life is recorded against you when you choose death, for we are known by our fruit (what our lives are producing), our lives show forth what we choose. We are not in control except for the choices that we make, all other is smoke and glass.
A dear friend of mine put a video up on her FB yesterday of an abortion survivor. When I first saw it I did not know that there were survivors. If you want to check it out go to youtube.com and type in Gianna Jennsen. She was giving her testimony before the government in Victoria, Australia. A powerful testimony to the fact that none of us have control over life or death, that God and God alone grants who lives and who dies. I can hear some rebuttals on that but if you look at the whole picture and not just the part you will be able to see what I am talking about. Even if death is for the purpose to show salvation and the glory of God to another. Life or death, a huge battle we are in friends. Meditate on this, let it sink into your heart and do not just take my word for it, search it out.

Of tides and Men; Part III

Good Morning Friends, Get your coffee and come on in. It's is a cool 63 degrees, cloudy and rainy day in the Carolina's. I love days like these. A reprieve from the heat and the coolness makes you want to just snuggle up with a good book, (well in my case it will be methods in research... just the kind of book I love, NOT). If you all will, please say a prayer for my cousin Michael, he is in the hospital on life support. I just found out and I do not know all the details as of yet.
So yesterday, I was giving the analogy of the tides to the ebb and flow of life, and how when things seem to come crashing in from all around that it is a call to action. I also related this time to a gold smith and the making of pure gold. Have you ever been out on the ocean when there has been a bad storm? I can remember this one time (first and last time that I have went deep sea fishing), we were going to go deep sea fishing. There had been a really bad storm out in the middle of the Atlantic the night before and the captain was caught in betwixt charting ahead on our venture or calling it off. The morning was a morning much like it is here today, a little cool, cloudy and a drizzle or two. After mulling around for about an hour (now we are already late getting started), the captain brings it to a vote, the majority ruled in favor of going fishing. Well I was e*x*c*i*t*e*d, see I have never been on a deep sea fishing adventure before and I was gun hoe.  So we set our course from the inlet of Little River NC towards the ocean, front row seat.  As we approach the breakers the fun turns into a little apprehensiveness. You see the wave approaching the breakers are huge, I have never seen waves like this before. Well we are breaking through, and the boat is riding up up up and crashing down down down, wave after wave after wave, with the sea spray dousing us really good as if to say ha ha ha, you dare try and break through my territory. After a while we get through the breakers and we are out in open water. The sight of land has disappeared and all you see are big swells of ocean water rocking the boat up and down and side to  side. Then the sun comes out and suddenly you get this nauseous smell of bait and diesel fumes. Uuuuggggghhhhh, I have never felt like this before, I want to go home. After hours and hours of fighting 17 foot swells and foul smelling oders we head back towards the shore. I have never been so happy to plant my feet back on the ground as I was that day. The crew was too. They informed us that they had never been on a trip that was that bad. For the next two days I rocked back and forth in my awakenings and in my sleep. Took a while to get over that trip and so many moons and years later I am still pretty sure that I never want to go deep sea fishing again. As for me, I am just fine with the ocean from the shore.
Have you ever been through a life storm like that. One in which you think that it is never going to end and it will surely be the death of you? Those are the toughest, but produce the most growth and strength that you could never imagine that you would have. When you come out on the other side you are thankful that you made it and you realize that the only way that you made it was with God's help because you could not have endured without it. You learn a lot about yourself and you also learn that some things that you held to so dearly are not as important and other things that you took for granted become of utmost importance. You find that your relationship with God is closer than you could have ever dreamed possible and that you are more willing to let go of your on idea of (false) control and let God be in charge of the sails.

Of Tides and Men; Part II

Good Morning Friends, grab your coffee and come on in and let's chat for a moment. As Justin Wilson used to say "How yaw are"?
It has been an extremely busy the last few days. There are so many things going on this week, I feel as if I am running ahead of that freight train again. It is so hard to write something and come back later and pick up where your thoughts were, I am going to give it a try. In my last post I was describing the ocean and it's attributes. As I said before this is one of my most favorite places in the world to be (sitting and gazing at the ocean). I do not know why, but it draws me and refreshes me. I have read some where in my studies that the ocean and the winds work together and they balance out the ions and that somewhat improves the overall sense of well being. Well, I am not a scientist however, I know that I feel so much better when I am around the ocean (if only I could bottle that feeling up and bring it home with me). In this post I would like to contrast the ocean with life. I will still be breaking this up into a few segments because I would like to use life analogies along with spiritual analogies. Thanks ahead of time for bearing with me while I try to reign in my thoughts and present them in a way that you can understand. 
One of the first analogies that I recognize about the ocean is the tides. How they come and go, day after day. They come in and they go out and it is such a subtle change that we do not even realize it is happening until we have to move our chairs and towels up, or we look out and it looks like we are a mile from the water. 
That's how life can be. It just happens. It seems that we too have our cycles like the tide. Sometimes we are up, sometimes we are down, some days are great, some days are not so great, sometimes there is sorrow and trouble, sometimes there is happiness and joy. 
I do not think that King Solomon was thinking of the ocean when he penned Ecclesiastes 3, to everything there is a season and a time to every purpose under heaven (he was probably thinking more in terms of seasons and one day I will write about that) but for today's purpose I will be using the waxing and waning of the tides. 
There are times when the tide is a gentle as can be, for an example, when at the beach this year, the ocean was the calmest I have ever seen. When you gazed upon the water it seemed to be almost as calm as the water on a lake in the evening time when all the boaters have went home. Almost like a sea of glass, it is so smooth. Other times it can be so rough and stormy with the waves crashing loudly and violently onto shore. 
How much so can our lives be...one moment calm, serene, peaceful only to give rise not even with a moments notice to be rough, stormy, violently in turmoil, as if all of life is crashing in on you and you do not know where it came from and so unsure of how you are going to get through. 
I think of time like these as a time of testing, a time of growth a time that calls you into action. What you might ask am I being tested for? I think it is a time of testing to see what is inside of you, what you are made of. A trial by fire. Like a Master Gold Smith, heating the gold until the dross (the nasty stuff) surfaces, so that it can be disposed of, (a process that is repeated) until there is nothing left but purity, shining brilliantly, showing forth it's beauty to be crafted into something that is of value...

Of Tides and Men; Part I

Good Morning friends, come have a seat and let's chat a while this morning. It's a beautiful day here in the sunny Carolina's and I hear that we are about to get a reprieve from this hot weather that we have been having. I so can not wait, I love to be out doors but only when I can breathe, so the high humidity and temperature this summer has not been so kind to let me enjoy outdoors much except early morning or late evenings. 
I love the ocean, I love everything about it. I can sit on a beach and just listen to the waves crash for hours and hours. There is something about the ocean that puts me in a hypnotic state (for lack of a better adjective to describe it at this moment). As I gaze out over the vast expanse of this magnificent body water I can see where the water and the sky meet, blended together and yet separate. I can understand how back in time they thought the earth was like a plate, if you look out as far as you can see, it is rounded like a plate and seems to be flat as if you would just fall off of it (chuckles as I envision the thought). I gaze back to the water and watch  the waves, roll after roll as they seem to get bigger as they get closer to the crash zone, then they just fold over with a loud crashing (or pounding) sound and rumble up to the shore in a conglomerate of water and foam. As if grasping to dig into the sand, the water fights to stay on shore as it is swept back out into the vast expanse of water again. If you stand on the edge of the crash zone you can feel the pull as you dig your feet into the sand and fight to stay in position. You are not pounded by the waves so much if you go out beyond the crash zone, however, you can still feel the pulling and the beckoning of the waves enticing and urging you to come out further. Yet, you know all the while that staying close to the shore is your point of safety. 
One thing that you do not expect as you are out beyond the crash zone is the monster called the rip tide. Yes, I do say monster. This is a strong undercurrent that can pull you under and take you out in a moments notice. How do I know you might ask. I have been a victim of the ferocious rip tide, and was fortunate to have been rescued out of it's grasp. 
Tides are another phenomenon of the ocean. The tides subtlety  comes up on you without you realizing it, and before you know it, it is  back out again.

Sunrises

Good Morning Everybody, grab your coffee and come on in and let's chat a while. Today is Friday, wow this week sure did pass quickly. I feel like I have been running in front of a freight train (hehe, it hasn't hit me yet). I love rising early and watching the sunrise, what about you? This is God's time (of course all time is God's time). Sunrises are the promise of a brand new day. How refreshing it is to know that with each sunrise we have another day to do things right. God tells us in his word that his mercies are renewed each day. So with each sunrise, we start out with a clean slate, a chance to go out into the world and to make a difference. Before we start our journey, let's take a little time to reflect on our blessings and the grace that has been bestowed upon us by our heavenly father. Just in the sunrise alone I am captured by the awesome beauty that is before me, the sheer magnificence and splendor of the colors and the brightness as the sun peeks it's shining head over the edge of the horizon until it hangs above in it's full splendor. The colors of the trees, and grass, and how the shadows  are cast down from the mountains as I watch life spring forth from the darkness of the night past. The birds waking up with their song "a new day, a new day" and the chatter of the creatures of the day as they arise to preform their purpose without question. My heart is captivated and filled with awe that God puts the finest touches on all things and gives them to us that we can all enjoy (that is if we remember to take the time to be unbusy). I am also in awe how the very nature that we see with our own eyes  can be correlated to our relationship with the Lord, how that when he arises within our own hearts and lives we can see him in his full splendor and see our own lives spring forth as he cast down the shadows from the darkness of nights past when we were not in relationship with him. How we then are a light that shines forth from a city on a hill. Wow, what an awesome God, a loving God, a God who loves us enough to show his  beauty in Sonrises. Thank you Lord for your magnificent creation, thank you for each refreshing new day you give us, thank you for showing us in your creation how much you love us and care for us and how beautiful you are, how beautiful you think that we are. Thank you for renewed mercies and as we begin our day, let us be mindful of this mornings reflection and shine forth you and your glory throughout our day, let us be mindful to be merciful to others, and let's us share the wonder of you love. We thank you and we love you, in Jesus name.

Grace and Beauty

Good Morning everyone, grab your coffee and come on in an let's chat a while. I found this picture of lily pads and I thought how graceful and beautiful. Well you know I am a gal from down south and grace and beauty is what we southern girls are all about, right? What is grace and beauty? Grace, according to the free dictionary.com is:  Seemingly effortless beauty or charm of movement, form, or proportion.. A characteristic or quality pleasing for its charm or refinement.
 A disposition to be generous or helpful; goodwill.. Mercy; clemency.
 A favor rendered by one who need not do so; indulgence.
Aah, "a seemingly effortless beauty", looks as if grace and beauty go together, let's see what the definition of beauty is...  
the combination of all the qualities of a person or thing that delight the senses and please the mind. a very attractive and well-formed girl or woman. When I think about grace and beauty in the aspect of a southern girl, I think about Clarke Gable and Vivian Leigh in "Gone With The Wind". Or for a more up to date version of a southern girl "Ya Ya Sisterhood" either way us girls can be a little outlandish sometimes and yet when there is trouble brewing on the horizon we can come together like non else and do what ever need be to get things done, (smile in remembrances of times past). However, (brows together in deep thought) what about the culture now days? Is a Southern Belle going to be something of the past? There seems to be a lot of people that do not understand our generosity or our charm as if it is something of an offense. For example, one day I was on the phone with a lady and she was making an appointment (minute details are unimportant here), I happened to say "yes mam", the reaction was as if I had spilled acid on the poor girl, she said "do not call me mam, I am not a slave", well talk about some one being miss informed but us southern girls say mam and sir all the time and it has nothing to do with anything except for respect, so as any good southern girl would do I gracefully explained to her why we did this. This was information that she did not know (she was from up north). Well, that ended well and I respected her not to say mam anymore and she had more respect for me if I messed up and said mam anyway.(chuckles). There was a time that did not work out so well, I was taking a class at the community college when my teacher called my name and I said "yes mam" oh my goodness, her face turned red and she addressed the whole class with..."I will not tolerate any one in my class saying mam or sir, if it happens again you will get a zero for a grade, I am fore warning you and letting you know that I am not any one's (d) slave". OoouuucccHHH. You know who's black list I was on for the rest of the class. (Smiles). Well, I have seen major degradation in the area of Southern Grace and Charm over the years. I always thought that a little kindness and respect went a long way, or has the definition changed? Hmmm, some times a long for days when people were friendly for the sake of being friendly and they didn't think about ulterior motives, (with that said, is it a trust issue, or is it more of everyone for themselves?), of course life was more relaxed and not a busy as it is today.

It's a Maxine Kind Of Day

Good morning everyone, get you a cup of coffee and come on in and chat a while. One of my most favorite cartoon strips (other than Charlie Brown) is Crabby Road. Now everyone may not like Maxine, but I totally get her. Maxine is Maxine and she is the way she is, no pretenses, no trying to figure her out. She is crabby about everything. She is a little old lady that is going to say exactly what is on her mind, most of the time it's negative, but at the same time she is humorous. I just finished a course in communication this summer which was a very informative class. In order to have great communication skills you must practice clear and precise communication. One example of bad communication,
friend 1- So I hear you just bought a house, what is it like?
friend 2- Oh, it's nice.
friend 1- Yeah? How big is it?
friend 2- About 2200 sq. ft.
friend 1- How many bedrooms?
friend 2- 3
friend 1- How many bathrooms?
friend 2 - 2 and 1/2
friend 1- 2 story or ranch?
friend 2- Split level
friend 1- brick or siding?
friend 2- brick.
Now, I don't know about you but in this conversation it seems as if the friend number one is interested in their friends new house and trying to get their friend to share  information about it is as frustrating as a dentist trying to pull teeth with the wrong tools. Having good communication skills it is possible that the conversation could possibly go something like this.
friend 1- Hey, I heard you just bought a new house, tell me about it.
friend 2- Yea, it's so beautiful, it's a brick split level, about 2200 sq. feet, it has three huge bedrooms that I can't wait to decorate, 2 and 1/2 bathrooms, one in the master another in the hallway and a half bath downstairs in near the living room. I can't wait for you to see it, I am going to need some help with decorating if you are up to it.
friend 1- Sounds beautiful, I can't wait to see it and you know I will be there to help in any way that I can. What are your colors going to be?
This is an engaging conversation, it is not forced, neither friend is having to try and guess what the other is trying to say.
Communication is important, and good communication is valuable especially in trying to establish good relationships. Just think of how many misunderstandings we would have if we were all willing to go the extra mile to learn how to communicate more effectively. Most people think that communication comes naturally. This is truly a misconception. Effective communication is a skill that has to be developed and practiced on a continual basis. The reason for this is, that we all have different perceptions. Our perceptions can be misleading when communicating, for the simple reason that we can not be in another persons thoughts to know exactly what they are thinking. So without skillful communication, we can be perceiving what we are hearing and what we are seeing (body language) in a totally misconstrued way. There are so many facets to great communication. Sleepless, but not in Seatle

Good Morning Everyone! Coffee is a much needed treat this morning. Don't you just love those nights when you toss and turn and no matter what you do you end up sitting in the dark (because you do not want to wake everyone). Last night was one of those nights for me. So, I got up, sat in the living room in the dark. I finally turned on my laptop, read the news played some bejeweled (one of my favorite games) and talked with a friend who could not sleep either. She is having surgery today (let's all remember June in your prayers).
There is not a lot to do in the middle of the night hours. One benefit is that it is so quiet, all you here is the whirring sound of the fridge and ceiling fans, the soft snoring of my dogs and hubby. Every once in a while a car going down the road, then around five o clock in the morning the neighborhood starts coming to life, house lights come on, cars are moving regularly and then I am ready to go back to bed. Well, that will be later on tonight. I am a morning person who has to bite the bullet and stay up so that I can get all my work done. I will crash tonight (hopefully early).
Well it's time to get off here and get busy on this beautiful and hot Carolina day, until next time, fill your day with a little randomness.

Let's Talk A Little Discipline

Good morning everyone, get your coffee and come on in and let's chat for a moment. 
Living the biggest part of my life as a hopeless procrastinator, I surely understand the meaning of the word discipline. Discipline came to me during the early years of motherhood. No more putting off today what can be done tomorrow. Nope, can not do that with little ones running around, laundry to keep up with, homework assignments, ball games, Dr. appointments, arguments with the insurance companies making sure they are paying their part, not to mention working full time and sometimes a part time job too. (whew, I am tired already). Ahh, the easiness of putting thing off. NOT. So I joined forces to the other extreme and became supper dupper responsible. Now my friends, (wrinkles in forehead, frown on face) that is a sure fire recipe for burn out. Yes sir re, that is exactly what happens to you. Balance is the key when it comes to being disciplined, yes you have to make yourself a schedule that you can stick to but you also have to give yourself a little freedom to venture off of that schedule when need be. 
For instance this weekend. (A little laugh), I think I ventured a little to far off of my schedule and will probably pay heck for it this week. However, it was a good weekend, I enjoyed being with people I haven't seen in a while, and I absolutely had a wonderful time. (Sometimes a girl just has to have a little fun and excitement in her life, makes us more interesting, don't you think). Well as for today, it's time to get back on schedule and get some things done.
Another part of discipline that I have to address to myself is, keeping up with this blog post, even though I just started it I have commit to keeping it up and give you all an apology for being lax since I started it.
One thing I promised that I would write to you about, Life Celebration. It was a wonderful experience. It was not a formal service, more intimate, where family and friends could share with one another their memories, we still had song, the Pastor still spoke, and we still had prayer, but the intimacy of it all is what stood out the most for me. I think that this is something that we will be seeing more of in the near future.
Well friends, it is time to start the day and until we meet again, fill your life with a little randomness.

Scary Moments

Good Morning
Bring your coffee and come on in and have a seat. Have you ever had one of those moments where you saw something or read something that just scared the bejesus out of you? Well, I had one of those yesterday. I saw a statement on the home news page that another oil rig had just exploded. Just for a little background, I have a son that works on an oil rig and he is out there on his three week turn. In that moment my heart dropped to my toes. The first thing that I did, was to check out the news flash and of course their is no information at that time. OH NO! (just in a matter of seconds). So I log on to facebook to send him a message (you see, I can't get in touch with him when he is out on the rig, he has to call me).
Well, not to much later I find out the company that owned the rig (not one of his) whew!  What a relief. By the way I am so thankful that everyone got of the rig and was rescued safe and sound. I just know there were other wives and mom's like myself who were going through the same emotions.
A few minutes later the phone rings, I say "hello" and I hear "Mom, was you a little worried"? LOL, you mom's out their know how it is. YES I was...just for a moment.
Well the rest of the day was a bit uneventful.
Today is another beautiful sunny day here in the Carolina's. Lot's of homework to do and a big test. Then I am off this afternoon to a life celebration for my dear sweet cousin who past away last week.
My how times have changed. I have always hated going to funerals. Today is a totally different perspective. You see, where you used to have a viewing and then the funeral and grave site, today we have a celebration, no viewing, no grave sight, just getting together to celebrate a life that has passed on to be with the Lord. I will let you all know more about this the next time I write.

Good Morning!
Get your coffee and come on in. Well, it is Thursday here in the sunny Carolina's today. I think we are still waiting to see what hurricane Earl has in store for us this weekend.
I am sitting here with my grandson watching Curious George and contemplating getting some school work done (sigh). So many better things I can think of to do. I won't get the grades thinking like that now will I.
If you haven't seen the movie Eat, Pray and Love, it may be worth while to see. It's a little slow however, you can take a vicarious vacation without having to leave the comfort of your home.
My mother-n-law loves Nanny Mcphee so, I am on a journey this weekend to take her to see it. Should be loads of fun. "When you do not want me but need me I stay, when you want me but do not need me I must go". (Nanny Mcphee).
